Learning to Fall!
Our passion for wake-boarding explored new and slightly scarier depths today! We launched early onto Eagle Mountain Lake and the water and found a glassy & unoccupied canvas for expressing our new found skills.
One by one we took to the water and found the smooth lake alot easier to learn on than previous, choppier, visits!
However as the much abused proverb states, “curiosity killed the cat” and one of our group got a little too adventurous on his last run of the day. A slow start soon turned into a fast paced run and our work mate looked determined to “go big or go home”.
So here’s a blow by blow account;
1/ He cut outside the wake
2/ He teased with coming back into the wake
3/ Took a wide turn out and then headed at a pace towards the wake
4/ He was suddenly airborne, he was jumping!!!!
5/ BLAM, he was face first into the water!!!!!!
After shouts of are you okay and can you hear us he finally came around and decided that was enough for the day.
Needless to say he is a little sorer and wiser today.

Learning to Wakeboard On Eagle Mountain Lake
The staff of The Day Lily Cottage have been learning to wakeboard every weekend this July… They have been learning on the glassy waters of Eagle Mountain Lake, often getting up at 7AM on a Saturday and Sunday morning to get to the lake early.
Certain members of the staff are better than others but we are progressing together and it is definitely a bonding exercise…
We have been using alot of our stores products from the Naked Bee line of bath & body products.
An essential product for spending a day on the lake has been the spray on Daily Facial Moisturizer which comes in a 2.5 oz spray bottle and has a natural SPF 18 to keep those cheeks and noses from burning!
Another must have has been the all natural Hand & Body Lotion which has been a life saver as wakeboarding really chaps hands & feet.

Wild Cats!!!
Here at The Day Lily Cottage we have become accustomed to seeing a variety of wild cats, for our connoisseurs of Latin they’re known as Felis silvestris, (I guess that’s where Sylvester the cat comes from!)
They live in the vast spaces below our Old Town Keller stores and although we don’t encourage them we certainly enjoy seeing them play, there are always a small litter of kittens exploring and learning to hunt.
The daily encounters got me thinking, where did our domestic feline friends come from? After a quick trip to Wikipedia I learned that A study by the National Cancer Institute suggests that all current house cats in the world are descendants from a group of self-domesticating wildcats 10,000 years ago, somewhere in the Near East.
We have operated our family store in Old Town Keller for several years now but it appears our blissfully wild companions have been around for alot longer!

What’s Bugging Us?
One of the newest product lines in our store is a range of topical organic skin balms. We take it upon ourselves to test any new bath & body products so a field test was arranged!
One of our employees is originally from England and he gets bitten by our Texas bugs on a daily basis and we didn’t have to wait long before a perfect angry looking bite had appeared on his arm fresh for a test of the Wild Bug Balm!
Men are naturally sceptical and our Day Lily Cottage male staff are no exception, however, after initially saying that the balm was having “no effect” he soon found that the itching bug bite had stopped itching. Lo & behold, next day there was no sign of any bug bite and we have a true believer in the power of organic products.
